White Digital Media: Convert your plain cookie into a flavoured one with the new system!

A new system allows you to turn your bland cookie into a flavoured cookie!

Convert your plain cookie into a flavoured one with the new system!
What kind of cookie would you like to have today? walnut, chocolate-chip? Maybe a strawberry or tea-flavored biscuit? Researchers in Japan have created a virtual reality system that turns a plain old cookie into a cornucopia of looks and tastes. Wouldn’t that be a treat?
The system works by fooling the eyes and nose with visions and scents that turn a bland, flat-baked treat into one of more than a half dozen styles of cookie.
To try it out, users don a high-tech skullcap outfitted with a camera, screen, and seven pump-driven tubes filled with scented air.
The system, called Meta Cookie, overlays images of several types of cookies on plain cookies piled on a plate. Once the user selects one, the system pumps air near the user's nose with the corresponding scent. The power of the scent is adjusted as the user brings the cookie closer to their mouth.
Upon taking a bite, the user really thinks the cookie is isn't just a bland treat, but whatever the system turned it into. The research team, led by Takuji Narumi at

he University of Tokyo, report that users are regularly fooled by the system.
The team doesn't yet have a commercial market for their system, But if and when they do have, I’m sure not only the Kids but even the adults may equally seek pleasure out of this system.

Separated into three cultures, the retailer created a “cocktail party by the pool,” “iconic evening” and “evening grand soir” – each room featuring items that mirror the theme. From classic jewelry items to stunning full length gowns, Cannes Film Festival attendees are sure to be stunned upon entering this temporary shop.

Sony PlayStation Network attack in its fifth day- White Digital Media News

Sony still investigating network outage, blaming ‘external intrusion’ aka Anonymous for its problems

Sony PlayStation Network
Sony PlayStation Network attack in its fifth day
It’s been five days since Sony’s PlayStation Network went down, leaving more than 75 million people in the dark and looking for other ways to spend their free time. Satoshi Fukuoka, Sony Computer Entertainment spokesman in Tokyo says that the company is conducting a thorough investigation into the Network’s outage, but declined to provide more information about the problem. Sony still blames an “external intrusion” into the network.
Sony is shrugging its shoulders as to whether personal information or credit card numbers of users have also been compromised, but it promises that users would be informed if this was found true. It’s mind boggling that such a massive technology company has little power against the protection of its customer information. Additionally, Sony’s Qriocity service is also down and uses the same network infrastructure to provide audio and video to its products.

Over the weekend, Sony said it was rebuilding its network to better protect itself from future attacks and asked customers for patience while it completes the task. Sony hoped that the network issue would be solved by the weekend and gamers are looking for any information possible as to when they can log in next to continue their online battles.
Reports are coming out that Sony shut down the network voluntarily to work out the bugs to ensure operations were running smoothly. But to keep gamers offline for nearly a week, with new game releases, is just plain silly. We can imagine that Sony’s engineers are furiously trying to think of ways to protect its system from outsiders, but when you piss off a major hactivist organization like Anonymous, anything is possible.

The growing popularity of eReader devices has led to a surge in demand for eBook
The rising popularity of eReader gadgets like Apple's iPad 2, Amazon's Kindle and Sony Readers, has caused a surge in demand for digital books.
More readers are deserting traditional printed books in favour of electronic copies.
A staggering £55.2 million worth of eBooks were sold in the US in February but only £49.8 million was spent on paperbacks.
According to the Association of American Publishers, eBook sales have increased 202 percent on last year.
It is the first time that eBook sales have overtaken paperbacks and experts predict it is a trend that will soon hit the UK as eBook sales are expected to double in 2011.
Piracy and publishing
The surge in eBook sales spells good news for the publishing industry in terms of reducing costs. An eBook is cheaper to produce as it does not need to be printed, put in a warehouse or shipped.
However, one of the questions publishers face is how to distribute the cost between the author, retailer, customer and publisher.
Another more serious problem that publishers face is the threat of

It is best to study your market and compare which option is more targeted: Social Media marketing or the traditional style or a combination of both? This article looks to compare the different variables between social and traditional ways of marketing to give you a balanced perspective on what will work best for you.
Traditional marketing is somewhat regarded as old and out-dated by many industry leaders. In fact 24 of the 25 largest newspapers are experiencing record declines in circulation. When you look at 50% of the world’s population being under 30 and 96% of them using social networks to connect, it is no wonder why social media marketing is becoming the next big thing.

Converting your Facebook Profile to a Facebook Page – Think twice!

Users who want to migrate from a traditional Facebook Profile to a Facebook Page might want to think twice before making the leap.

Facebook Profile and Facebook Page
Facebook Profile and Facebook Page
Facebook now allows users to convert their personal Facebook profile into a Facebook Page. Confused? Well, a key difference between the two features is that users can simply “like” a Page while they must “friend” (establish a mutual relationship with) a profile, which makes Pages a much better solution for businesses and public figures.
On a help page explaining the new tool, Facebook describes what happens when you make the switch:
“Be aware that when you convert your profile to a Page, your profile pictures will be transferred, and all of your friends will be automatically added as people who like your Page. No other content will be carried over to your new Page, so be sure to save any important content before beginning your migration.”
Migrating is irreversible at this time, so you may want to download your profile information — including photos, wall posts, messages and friend list — before making the switch.
With the tool, Facebook’s prime target appears to be businesses and public figures that have previously set up a profile instead of a page. Beyond having a somewhat different feature set, profiles also have a 5,000 friend limit that has become a limitation for some popular entities.
It’s great that Facebook is offering users this tool, but those interested in the migration should proceed with extreme caution.
Just looking at the page for the new migration tool, Facebook makes this point clear, but the site isn’t explicit about what this actually means.
Here is what converting a page actually means, in terms of user content:
• Only your profile photo transfers, no other profile photos or ...Read the rest of the article at:
